Telangana ranks second in the country for increasing forest cover, with 632 km.
Telangana’s forest area is 26,969 square kilometers, which is 24.05% the State’s total geographical area.
Hyderabad topped the list for Forest Covers in Major Mega Cities based on decadal growth. Hyderabad’s total forest cover increased from 33.15 sq kilometers in 2011 to 81.81 square km in 2021. This is a 147% increase. It was largely visible in open forests, shrubs, and moderate forest cover.
