Urban environment sustainability is defined by the EEA as the promotion of revitalization and urban transitions in order to improve livability, promote innovations, reduce environmental impacts and maximize economic and social co-benefits. This report is based upon the EEA conceptual framework of urban environmental sustainability. It combines results from a literature review (a top down assessment based nexus analysis) and results from a survey of selected cities (a bottom up approach) to identify urban transition drivers.
