The Lagos State Government said that it would continue to provide an environment conducive to the growth of the state’s artistic industry.
According to a Thursday statement, Mrs Oyinade Natash-Marsh, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, made this disclosure at a symposium organized by the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture in Alausa, Ikeja, to commemorate 2022 World Arts Day.
She said, The arts are important communication vehicles, and a prosperity-generating sector deserving vibrant investments from both the public and private sectors, therefore the Sanwo-Olu administration will continue to encourage an enabling environment for the artistic industry to thrive.
Oladusi Kolafe, Chief Executive Officer of LSCAC, stated that Lagos is joining the global trend to observe the day. The agency is leading efforts for the promotion and development of arts, especially education.
Dr Olusola Ogunfuwa from the University of Lagos, a lecturer in the Creative Arts Department, stated that artists and the arts greatly benefited in the early 21st Century Africa. This improved the pace of notable artists, and made arts, culture, and recognition more relevant.
