A number of internet users quickly defended a woman who explained why she was unable to lend her specialized vehicle for a long road trip.

In a viral Reddit post published on r/AmITheA**hole, Redditor u/Low_Statistician6031 (otherwise referred to as the original poster) said she has frequently lent her wheelchair-accessible van to her neighbors but detailed their great frustration when she said they could not use the vehicle for an Your next trip to Disney World.

Titled, “[Am I the a**hole]”I won’t let my neighbors borrow my car on a long trip.” The PostIt has received more than 7 000 votes and nearly 900 comments within the last 8 hours.

It began with the explanation that she bought the van to transport her 80 years-old mother. The original poster stated that she had seen her neighbors struggle to accommodate her young, wheelchair-bound daughter.

She wrote that she noticed that her neighbors didn’t have a car capable of transporting their daughter, and that she had to take her out of her wheelchair. “So I offered my minivan to them if I wasn’t using it for my mom’s transportation.”

Noting that the mutually-beneficial arrangement has been working smoothly for the past 18 months, the original poster revealed her relationship with her neighbors after she failed to grant the family’s van-related request.

“They have asked if they can use your car to go on a trip.” Road tripShe wrote. “The trip is expected to last just over two weeks.” [and]The main reason for the trip was to take the children to. [Disney World]For the first time.”

She wrote that her problem was that her mom was supposed to arrive two days after they leave. “I asked them if they could delay their trip by just few days so that I can get from the airport without stress.”

“They insist they leave on the dates that they want to do it.” [but]I said no, I need my mom to be able comfortably to get to the airport…and not have any worries about getting there. [her]”In and out of the car,” continued the original poster.

“[My neighbors]She called me selfish and she’s been expelled by the community,” she said. “I tried to text [them]But my texts were not delivered so I believe they blocked me.”

Wheelchair-equipped vehicles can make a difference for both wheelchair users as well as their loved ones. They can provide smooth, safe transportation or painful transfers between chair to car.

Vantage Mobility, a leading wheelchair van manufacturer, maintains that making the switch from a traditionally-equipped vehicle to a wheelchair-accessible van can eliminate a great deal of pain and fatigue.

Vantage Mobility states that when a car is used to transport someone in wheelchairs, there can be pain and fatigue as well as serious problems caused by frequent seat transfers. Website reads. “What could happen is joint and muscular pain, eventually arthritis and tendinitis.”

The website states that a wheelchair van uses an entry ramp so there are no transfers outside the vehicle and you don’t have to separate load your chair.

They added that “It appears that your ‘friendly neighbourhood’ is actually made up a group of false friendships.” “You didn’t ask them for anything unreasonable, but the wouldn’t adjust for your, even though they were very generous with you.”

Redditor u/Ok–Succotash7483, who has more than 2,000 views for his comment, echoed the sentiment.

They wrote that “This is a whole different level of ridiculous, choosy behaviour.” “I’m sorry that you have turned on your neighbors. I believe you should end all offers to rent the van. Their behavior is disgusting.”

Redditor u/Boredpanda31 added a separate comment that has received over 4,500 votes. She assured the original poster that she was entitled to deny her neighbor’s request because it would have directly contradicted their original agreement.

They wrote that the agreement was that they could use it even if they didn’t need it. “If they wanted it so badly, they should have checked dates first with you.”

“Your agreement was that they could make use of it IF you weren’t using it for your mom,” Redditor MissAnth said. “You need it to support your mom. They won’t be able to use it. Very simple.
