Participants at the plastics free environment event, Yorba in Phek on March 26,
Kohima (MExN), March 28 An initiative for plastics free environment was jointly undertaken by Yorübami Students Union and Life Project for second time at Yorüba in Phek district through Plastic Pick-up Competition and Mass Sanitation on March 26.
This event was created to raise awareness about cleanliness and civic responsibility, especially for the younger generations.
More than 60 persons aged from 7-14 participated in the event and various organizations including Yorübami Youth Association (YYA), Yorübami Women Welfare Society, Self Help Groups, etc participated and extended their support towards this venture.
All the participants and winners received a cash prize as well as citations.
Vesüto Khüsoh, President YSU and Manager Life Project, Vevozo Lohe, Co-Manager Life Project, Rükusayi Lohe, President YYA & Küvezüyi Lohe GB accentuated the dangers of using plastic and its consequences. They claimed that plastic bags have been a major part of the litter system. This causes health disruption for humans and has many negative environmental effects such as animal choking, pollution and blockage of streams and channels.
They strongly encouraged participants to take part in the cleanliness drive and to act responsibly in dealing with the rising pollution.
Meanwhile, YSU and Life Project, Yorüba conveyed sincere appreciation to the Prize Sponsors Lhüveyi Lohe, Branch Manager, NSCB Ltd, Pulesayi Lohe, ex-president YSU, Vezholhü Khüsoh, ex- president YSU, Küvephuyi Lohe, ex- president YSU and Cizota Medeo, finance secretary YYA.
