Day 1 19 February 2022

9.50 AM10.55AM EAT: A Capacity-Building & Connecting Session was held to introduce UNEA processes and YEA’s objectives, as well as to network with youth constituencies.

11.00 AM12.30 EAT: Opening session: YEA officially opens with welcoming remarks and keynote presentations

12.30 PM12.45PM EAT Briefing about working group, drive folders

12.45 PM13.50 pm EAT UNEA 5.2 and UNEP@50: What’s at stake? This session will give an overview of the OECPR negotiations, the two UNEA sessions, and what is at stake.

15.00 PM15.10PM EAST: Energizer and explanation on breakouts (moving virtuelle participants into breakouts).

15.30 PM17.00 PM EAT Thematic session Demystifying Chemicals and Waste at UNEA5.2. This session aims to help youth (i) understand the chemical and waste processes (ii), understand MEAs around Chemicals and Waste, (iii), update on chemicals and waste negotiation issues for UNEA5.2. 90 minutes. Collect their feedback and ideas on the three previous items.

Standpoint on Sustainability: Effectively Express Your Opinions: This skill-building session teaches young people how to voice their opinions in the sustainability and environmental space (45 minutes).

Working Group 2: Cluster 4 Sustainability: 1. Resolution on Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure 2. Resolution from Eritrea in behalf of the African Group for green recovery Resolution on circular economics 4. Resolution on mineral resource governance.

17.00 PM18.30 PM:Parallel Working Group Meetings Marine Litter Working Group: Preparation of (i) Draft resolution by Rwanda/ Peru on an internationally legally binding Instrument on Plastic Pollution and (ii) Draft Resolution On Framework for addressing Plastic Product Pollution, including single-use plastic products pollution.

11.30 AM12.40 PM Session on UNEP Medium Term Strategy (MTS): A session that focusses provides an overview of UNEP’s MTS and the narrative on “nature, climate and pollution action” presentation by the secretariat, followed by interaction with youth delegates.
