Bantwal, Apr 28:This school offers students education on both the subject and the environment.

The school has been awarded the Green school award five different times. Pellapu Government Higher Primary School in Kadeshwalya village is a school that excels in its approach to educating students.

Pellapu Government school was founded in 1935. It has received both heritage and modern buildings. The school places more importance on the environment than on subject studies.

The entire school grounds is filled with medicinal and fruit plants. The school also produces grapes, which is an unusual sight in Dakshina Kannada. The grape yield was approximately four to five kilos last year. More grapes will likely be grown this year. Bhaskar Naik, an educator in physical education, said that grapes can also grow in Dakshinakannada.

This school had no toilet at one time. The school now has an ultra-modern bathroom. The school places cleanliness as a top priority.

Shyamala, the former president Kadeshwalya Panchayat, says that Hi-Tech toilets were installed in the school to allow rural students to get used to western-style toilets. This school is unique in Dakshina Kannada. The school is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the rare species and trees that have been cultivated there.

The school is now called Green School because it aims to attract students who are more interested in modernism as well as the importance of conserving the environment.
