Earth Hour 2022 urges Filipinos to vote in support of the environment’s long-term GMA News Online

This year’s Earth Hour 2022 celebration highlights how important it is to be decisive in the next national elections.

Filipinos need to elect leaders who will actively address the dual challenge of biodiversity loss and climate change in the next six year. 

The World Wide Fund for Nature-Philippines’ (WWF-PH) Shape Our Future: The Countdown to Earth Hour 2022 Virtual Roundtable discussion happening on March 26, 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. will talk about the environmental issues that the next set of leaders of the country should focus on.

The annual global switching off of lights in the Philippines will be observed between 8:30pm and 9:30pm.

This unique global grassroots movement will see over 150 countries follow its lead. Earth Hour is a global movement for the environment, with millions taking part every year regardless of their religion or nationality.

Earth Hour Philippines National Director Atty. will lead discussions about climate change and the loss of nature as the defining issues of the country. Angela Consuelo Ibay will be accompanied by panelists Xia Vigor (WWF-PH Child Ambassador), Mirus Ponon (ASEAN Youth Advocates Founder Mirusponon), Jaybee Garganera (The Green Thumb Coalition Convenor), Ten

Mariglo Laririt, Knots Director for Sustainability, and Rodel Cabigal President of United Ilijan Agricultural Workers for Sustainable Development.

With the theme “Shape our future,” the environmental movement aims to be a platform to encourage and mobilize collective action for the environment by educating and inspiring everyone, especially government leaders, to act for nature and climate.

Earth Hour 2022 is an opportunity to educate and empower Filipino voters to #ChangeTheEndingForThe Philippines by highlighting biodiversity conservation and climate change issues and raising these issues with candidates for office in the coming elections.

The Earth Hour 2022 is a call for action that encourages people to be more compassionate with the planet. It also aims to inspire people to take small steps towards a sustainable lifestyle.
