Environment Canada expects colder weather to continue

Environment Canada expects colder than normal weather to stick around

Many parts of BC are under an Extreme Cold Warning. Some areas in the north can reach as high as the -40 range.

Environment Canada predicts that the coldest days of the week will be today (Sunday), and tomorrow (Monday). However, they expect temperatures to remain below normal for the remainder of the week.

According to Gregg Walters, Meteorologist, there is still an arctic ridge that’s over the BC Interior. This gives clear skies, and hence the cool temperatures this morning.

Prince George was sitting at -39 degrees this morning.

Further west, Smithers was around -35 while down south Williams Lake was at about -29.

Even though Saturday is just six days away, the highs are only -14. This is still five to ten below the normal for this season.

Walters said that we should have clear skies most of the week, with little snow forecast.
