WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Winter storm warning in force for:
- Timmins – Cochrane Iroquois Falls
This weekend is expected be a time of winter storms
Hazards:
Snow, sometimes heavy, with accumulations up to 10 to 20 cm by Sunday morning. Additional snowfall accumulations up to 15 cm may be possible in certain areas on Sunday.
Untreated surfaces can experience freezing rain with ice accumulation of 2-5 mm
Timing:
This afternoon through Sunday afternoon
Discussion:
Snow moves from west-to-west this morning. It could mix with ice pellets or freezing water tonight, especially between Wawa and Chapleau. Any ice pellets and freezing rain will likely turn to snow on Sunday morning. From west to west, snow will turn to flurries Sunday afternoon.
It is worth considering delaying travel that is not essential until conditions improve. Travel may be difficult in certain areas due to rapidly growing snow. The roads, sidewalks, walkways, and parking lots can become slippery and icy. If visibility is reduced while driving slow down, pay attention to tail lights ahead and be ready for a stop.
When multiple types of severe winter weather are expected, winter storm warnings will be issued.
