Environment Canada issues a weather alert for Windsor County and Essex County

Environment Canada has issued a special warning for this area for Sunday afternoon and into Monday night.

It is expected that there will be isolated strong winds gusts associated with thunderstorms in the Windsor and Essex County areas later today.

It is forecast that isolated thunderstorms will move across the region late this afternoon and early this evening. Although thunderstorms are not expected be particularly strong, there will be isolated wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h, according to the agency.

Local power outages can occur as well as damage to tree roots.
