Environment Canada predicts that Ottawa will experience freezing rain and ice pellets.

Environment Canada has placed Ottawa under special weather conditions until Tuesday night.

After a mild weekend for weather, Ottawa’s in for some freezing rain.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather forecast that said the capital can expect light snow mixed in ice pellets beginning Monday, February 21.

It is expected that freezing rain will begin Tuesday afternoon and continue through Tuesday night.

The exact amount expected is no certain at this time, however, Environment Canada said ice accretion amounts are expected to be “significant.”

It is expected that the freezing rain will end on Tuesday night or change to rain.

On Family Day, Ottawa’s high temperature is expected to be -1 C. Nighttime will see Ottawa drop to -8 C.

Tuesday’s high temperature is expected to be 3 C, and Tuesday’s low will be 1 C.
