Officials say that staying at home during a Manitoba storm might have saved lives.
The weather agency says another two to 10 centimetres are expected in the south today — but it has issued Snowfall warningsCentral Manitoba is expected to see five to 15 cm of rainfall.
Since Tuesday, Winnipeg and large parts of southern Manitoba have been under winter storm warnings and blizzard watches. This is because of heavy snowfall and strong winds over the past two days.
CAA Manitoba responds on Wednesday to more than 100 calls
Environment Canada had predicted snowfall of between 10 and 20 cm in southern Manitoba by Thursday morning. However, earlier blizzard warnings were lifted for a portion of southeastern Saskatchewan late Wednesday.

Preliminary provincial estimates indicate that 15 to 35 cm has already fallen in large parts of southern Manitoba, the Interlake and Parklands areas, while other areas saw up to 50 cm.

Manitoba braces as ‘historic’ winter storm to start Tuesday night
According to the weather agency, Winnipeg had received 25cm of snow by Thursday morning.
On Thursday, Winnipeg was expecting north winds gusting to 40-60 km/h. However, the night will see winds drop to 30-50km/h from the northwest. Environment Canada’s forecast.
Storm impacts on rural Manitoba
A number of highway closures were still in effect in southern Manitoba on Thursday afternoon. These included the Trans-Canada Highway connecting Winnipeg with the Saskatchewan border, and the Perimeter Highway.

Environment Canada stated that conditions should improve by Friday with winds decreasing and heavy snow moving into northern Ontario.
According to the province temperatures are expected stay near freezing in most places until next week. This will delay melting or runoff.
