CNN reported that German scientists just developed a new satellite called the ‘game-changer’ because it uses 250 colors to produce the most accurate data on water, soil, and vegetation in the history of satellites.

According to the website, the satellite’s mission is to monitor and characterize the environment on a global scale. It can determine the extent of pollution in a stream to be as small as 0.1The amount of nutrients in a plant.
Scientists claim that the images are of such high quality that they will be able study the environment and its rapid changes. The satellite was designed to study global warming’s environmental effects on the planet. It will also monitor how the environment responds to human activities, and monitor the management of the planet’s natural resources.

EnMAPs data will allow scientists to track and figure out how the environment is changing in real-time, and then seek solutions to save the planet.
Anke Schickling, who oversees the EnMAP mission’s Exploitation and Science Program, told CNN, “Everyone is really excited to just get the data and understand if their algorithms and the ideas of what they want to do with the data can really hold up to what they’ve been preparing for over the last couple of years.”
The satellite was designed for weather resistance for at least five year, but scientists hope the EnMAP will be able to withstand more severe weather conditions so that they can collect more data. This satellite is not the first of its type, but there are already several successor missions.
