Girl Scouts put emphasis on the environment in preparation for World Thinking Day

More than 50 Girl Scouts from across the region gathered at the Lewes Public Library for Service Unit 30s World Thinking Day Celebration February 26th.

Troops present were 115, 172 and 454, 601, 701, 1080, and 1150 from Lewes and Milton.

It was a great opportunity to connect with their global sisterhood, 10 million Girl Guides/Girl Scouts in 152 nations, and speak out about issues that affect young girls.

World Thinking Day has been celebrated since 1926. It is a day of international friendship.

This year’s World Thinking Day began a three year journey for Girl Scouts to become more environmentally conscious leaders. 2022’s theme was Our World, Our Equal Future: Environment & Gender Equality.

Each of the seven troops shared their research about a country and a change-maker from that country. The girls then traveled to each country’s display to have their passports stamped. The celebration ended with the Girl Scout tradition, where they sang Make New Friends and shared a friendship squeeze.
