Local Girl Scouts are focusing on the environment for World Thinking Day

More than 50 Girl Scouts from across the region gathered at the Lewes Public Library for Service Unit 30s World Thinking Day Celebration February 26th.

Troops present were 115, 172 and 454, 601, 701, 1080, and 1150 from Lewes and Milton.

It was an opportunity for them to connect with their global sisterhood, 10 million Girl Guides/Girl Scouts in 152 nations, and to speak out on issues that impact girls and young women.

World Thinking Day, which has been observed since 1926 is a day to promote international friendship.

The Girl Scouts started a three year journey to become more environmentally conscious leaders this year with the launch of World Thinking Day. 2022’s theme was Our World, Our Equal Future: Environment & Gender Equality.

Each troop shared their research on a country as well as a changemaker from that country. The girls then went around the country to stamp their passports at each display. The celebration ended with the Girl Scout tradition, where they sang Make New Friends and shared a friendship squeeze.
