Jaipur – The Centre has given the environment clearance to the second phase Parsa East (PKEB), in Chhattisgarh. This will allow Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd, to begin coal mining.
Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Mines and Petroleum, said that the chief minister was working with both Chhattisgarh’s Central government to get clearance for the coal-fired power plants. The RVUNL will now be able to begin mining in the 1136 hactares of the mine after receiving approval from the Environment, Forest and Climate Change ministry.
Bhanwar Singh Bhati, energy minister, said that the first phase PKEB mine was left with coal reserves that will be sufficient to last for one month.
The approval of the environment was crucial to keep the power plants operating in this setting. Bhati said that the state government was pressuring the centre to approve it.
