John Hammett: Environment, housing and mental health services are my priorities

John Hammett

My dream of living in a winter wonderland was realized three years ago when I moved from Atlanta to Frisco. I am blessed to live in the Colorado Rockies, where I work and live. Frisco is my hometown. My goal is to bring a new perspective to the council and address the issues that so severely affect our beautiful city.

My background includes engineering, small business ownership and corporate management. I also have experience in retail, hospitality, advanced wastewater treatment, and retail. This broad experience gives me creative insight to the problems facing our community. I am a problem solver.

I plan to address workforce housing issues, education and ending all medical mandates. I also want to protect the local environment (including the accumulating waste masks). Local businesses share the same concern: the lackluster workforce due to the chronic shortage in low-income housing. It is sad to see this problem still unresolved. To have the biggest positive impact on Frisco’s town and surrounding communities, I will focus my efforts on resolving the workforce housing issue in a timely manner. People from all over the globe want to work here. Let’s make this happen.

Priority No. 1: Environment

Environment is my priority. All of us should agree that the environment in the mountains should be our top concern. My first year will be a great experience. I will work with the rest of council to set up a volunteer/town effort for Frisco to become the cleanest town in Colorado. All ideas and thoughts for electric vehicles and green power are valid and will benefit the future sustainability of the planet. My engineering background means that I am well-qualified to help you with the technology innovations and integrate them into your small community.

Priority No. Priority No.

Second, affordable housing plans and workforce are a passion of my, and I look forward helping to accelerate all ongoing developments. We can also see a future that involves a greater scale of building and planning. I am looking forward to exploring creative ways to reduce the need of short-term housing in order to accommodate all out-of town visitors. One part of the solution may be hotel development. Tiny home parks are another option for families looking to move to Frisco. They have minimal environmental impact and are worth considering.

Priority No. 3: Mental Health Services

Finally, I would like for the government to fund and explore an expansion of the health service to include better mental health support to our young children and the stresses that modern society has created. To mentor and support at-risk boys and girls, we need the support of our community. To support our greatest asset, children, we can partner up with religious-based or local nonprofits.

I’m available to listen and react proactively. There are no issues, only solutions. Let’s get started!
