Noe Tanigawa is a Hawaii Public Radio journalist who covers art, culture and ideas. Noe started her career in news at WQXR in New York City. She also hosted music programs there from 1990 to 1994. Noe was previously a music host in New York. She covered jazz, rock, urban, classic Hawaiian music formats, as well as contemporary and historic Hawaiian music. Noe joined HPR in 2002. He has been awarded by the Los Angeles Press Club, Society of Professional Journalists Hawai’i Chapter and an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award. These awards were for covering the Hawai’i State Legislature’s budget process. Noe has a Masters degree in painting from UH Mnoa. She has an active painting practice and recently returned from a residency in Palau, where she was part of the U.S. Art in Embassies program. Noe hails from Wailupe Valley on East O’ahu.
