Meet Eco Africa’s Sandrah Twinoburyo

Since I was a little girl, I have been interested and involved in current events. I got a bachelor’s degree from Makerere University in Kampala in journalism and communication.

I participated in a media competition between universities across Kampala, where I won the best news anchor award. I have been with Radio City 97FM since then and Record TV, Uganda. I am currently working at NTV Uganda. It is one of the top television stations in Uganda.

In my quest for global exposure, experience, and exposure, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit South Africa in 2016. There, I spoke about Uganda’s political climate. I was invited to Berlin’s Media Conference in May 2019. I was able to network with journalists from all over the world and learn about the latest best practices as well cutting-edge journalism methods. Both of these opportunities have prepared me to tackle human-interest stories, which often have a lot do with the environment.

We are constantly affected by climate change in Uganda. Floods, unpredictable weather or droughts are becoming the norm and I think as a journalist it’s my duty to report about that. And that’s why I am keen to be a part of the Eco Africa team, because the show offers solutions to so many problems.

NTV Uganda is a DW Partner.
