no Civilisation Can Survive Destroying Environment | Mangaluru News

Mangaluru: A civilisation cannot survive by destroying the environment. According to Suresh Heblikar, an environmentalist and filmmaker, skyscrapers in large cities pose a grave threat.
He spoke as a chief guest at Art-xuberance Envibe on Wednesday, an intercollegiate national-level fest organized by Alvas College’s humanities department, Moodbidri.
He said that India has been destroying the natural environment in the name development. These cities are not scientifically constructed, as is the case in the West. He added that these cities emit poisonous water and air that can cause numerous diseases.
Heblikar expressed concern about the environmental degradation and stated that, despite having the ability to amass wealth, humans are incapable or unable to create even a drop. Only 10% of all the diversity is known. He lamented that water and food have been contaminated more than ever before.
Dr Mohan Alva, Alvas Education Foundation chairman, stated that the environment has suffered for many reasons.
