Stressful work environments can have negative effects on mental health

The vice president of operations at Thrive Pet Healthcare, discussed the negative effects of a toxic work environment on mental health in this dvm360 interview.

Bridget Rollins EMBA, vice president of operations at Thrive Pet Healthcare says that the negative effects of a toxic workplace environment on mental health can compound. These issues must be addressed early.

In a dvm360 interview she explained how stress can lead to burnout. This can cause compassion fatigue, as well as other mental strains in your work and personal lives.

Bridget Rollins EMBA: First, we need to recognize that if we are in a toxic environment, No. 1, there will be some stress. From there, can we manage that stress effectively? Or is it just something that’s not to be dealt with? If the stress continues, burnout will be the next building block.
