MUMBAI: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has been awarded the ‘Aviation Sustainability & Environmental’ award by Wings India Awards 2022. This award recognizes its efficient green practices, according to Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), in a statement.
The event was jointly organized at Begumpet Airport by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry.
MIAL stated that “CSMIA” had taken initiatives to build a waste management system, carbon management systems, carbon neutrality and wastewater recycling. MIAL also said that the airport had previously released its fifth biennial “Sustainability report 2020”. The report detailed the airport’s performance and achievements in three pillars of sustainability principles: Economic, Social, and Environment. MIAL stated that CSMIA is the first Asian airport to publish a Sustainability Report as per the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) standards.
