The National Environment Day Initiative is organized by the EPAA

Sharjah 24: The Environment and Protected Areas Authority of Sharjah (EPAA), has organized a City Centre Al Zahia initiative to celebrate National Environment Day. It is called Climate Action Now.
The campaign will begin with a beach clean up in Khorfakkan on Friday, February 4, followed by awareness activities and activities, environmental programs, exhibitions and educational workshops throughout the week.
 
Supporting global efforts to conserve the environment
Her Excellency Hana Saif Al Suwaidi is the Chairperson of Sharjah’s Environment and Protected Areas Authority. She stated that the National Environment Day, which falls every year on the 4th of February, is one the most important national environmental programs. The event, which holds great meaning and serves as a reminder of the importance of the environment, has been commemorated for more than 20 years and EPAA  is keen to participate as part of its strategy, which is aimed at protecting and preserving the environment, biodiversity and sustainability.
 
Her Excellency Hana Saif Al Suwaidi added that the “National Environment Day” highlights the attention paid and care shown for environmental matters by our leadership. This campaign is a tribute to this. The EPAA aims to bring attention to the environment and encourage positive behavior among people. 

Al Suwaidi encouraged community members to be active in protecting the environment, and to support the Emirate Sharjah in its global efforts for preservation and improvement of the environment. He also noted that the UAE has made many achievements in this area over the years.
 
Mangroves are an important part of the UAE
The campaign aims introduce the public to the concept and measurement of air quality. This is measured by how clean or polluted the atmosphere is. It also aims to increase awareness about the importance of mangroves in the UAE and how they reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere. Mangroves will be planted in Al Qurm, Kalba, as part of the campaign.

The Environment and Protected Areas Authority of Sharjah (EPAA), seeks to protect the natural environment, wildlife and biodiversity through scientific studies and research. The EPAA publishes education awareness material, implements policies and programmes for environmental awareness, and launches specialised campaigns within the field of environmental education and awareness.
