December 2021 saw a significant rise in the number of technology and power companies that hire for environment-related positions compared to the same month last year. 78% percent of the companies included in our analysis are currently recruiting for at minimum one such position.
This latest figure was higher then the 59.5% who were hiring for jobs in the environment-related field a year back, but it was still lower than the 79.2% in November 2020.
In December 2021, the number of job openings related to environment grew at 17.5%.
This was an increase in comparison to the 13.1% of jobs that were advertised in the same month last year and that were related to environment.
GlobalData, who provided the data for this article, identified the environment as a key disruptive force that will affect companies in the next few years. Companies that invest in these areas are better prepared for the future and better equipped to handle unforeseen challenges.
Our analysis of the data revealed that technology companies and power industry operations are currently hiring for environmental jobs at a faster rate than the average rate for all companies in GlobalData’s job analytics database. The December 2021 average was 3.7% for all companies.
