Some eco-minded people have taken a leap and provided solutions to individuals and helped them adopt sustainable living.

These are the five entrepreneurs who inspire people to live more sustainably with their eco-friendly brands and products.

1. Ved Krishna, Vice Chairman, YashPakka

Ved Krishna is a well-travelled entrepreneur who chose to remain in his home country to find innovative ways of eliminating single-use plastics from the world. His vision is to make our planet greener, cleaner and happier. Ved is the founder of YashPakka which manufactures packaging paper from agroresidue sugarcane (bagasse), and foodservice products using it.

He also launched a range of innovative compostable tableware products called ‘CHUK’. It has also won the Red Dot, India Design Mark, and CII design award.

2. Vaibhav Anant, Founder, Bambrew

Bambrew, a sustainable packaging startup, is an innovative solution provider in India. Vaibhav is responsible for the management of Research and Development and New Product Development, Operations, Team Development and Finance & Funding. Bambrew has cut more than 10,000 tons of plastic since Vaibhav took the helm. The company has created viable and affordable alternatives that are a perfect replacement for single-use plastic.

Under his leadership, the company has established strong partnerships with many leading business entities such as Amazon, Nykaa and 1MG.

3. Dolly Kumar, founder, Skinella

Skinella was the brainchild of Dolly Kumar (a woman entrepreneur and cosmetic engineering), and is a well-known brand for skincare that uses superfoods to cater to the needs and skin care of young girls and women aged 15-25. Dolly realized the need for a brand free of harsh chemicals and toxic substances after extensive research and development. Skinellaa was founded by Dolly to provide skin with the beauty benefits and superfoods naturals. PETA certifies Skinella products to be cruelty-free and vegan.

The brand recently launched Facesheet masks made with 100% biodegradable, cellulose sheets. This makes them environmentally friendly. The packaging is also recyclable to preserve the environment.

4. Wiz, co-founder, Reetesh Dihingra

Wiz is India’s most trusted brand for personal hygiene and personal care products. Reetesh’s FMCG expertise has been an added bonus. He is a firm believer of Stan Lee’s “with great power, comes great responsibility” philosophy. His team also believes in it. Wiz is the country’s most popular personal care brand. Wiz launched OVI (Only Vegan Ingredients), a new product range that is eco-friendly and biodegradable derived from vegan ingredients. These products are 100 percent chemical-free and safe for pets as well as babies.

All of the eco-friendly cleaning products are cruelty-free and made with vegan ingredients. Although it may be costly to purchase plant-based products, Wiz products can be easily accessed by people from all walks.

5. UditSood & Nikita Barmecha EcoRight

EcoRight offers bags in a variety of styles and prices. Their bags are made from durable and natural fabrics. The packaging is also biodegradable. UditSood and Nikita, the founders, are MBA professionals who have shifted from their successful corporate careers to providing solutions for the environment to people through their brand.

The company produces high-quality bags with quirky, yet thought-provoking designs that address environmental issues. They also use innovative fabrics such as recycled cotton and Juton (jute) and cotton.
