VANCOUVER This spring, international experts in environmental assessment and sustainable design will gather in Vancouver for the International Association for Impact Assessment conference.

The B.C. The May conference will be hosted by the Environmental Assessment Office of British Columbia and the Musqueam Squamish and Tsleil Watuth Nations. The conference registration is open until April 13.

The IAIA, the world’s leading network for impact-assessment best-practices, is a global network that informs decision-making regarding major infrastructure and resource development plans.

According to the province, IAIA22 explores the theme of how governments can increase confidence in the practice and practice of environmental impact assessments through clear policies and strong partnerships. It also encourages meaningful public participation in major projects in such industries as power, oil and natural gas transportation, and mining.

Plenary sessions, training classes, cultural tours, and technical visits at major projects and unique environments along the West Coast will all be part of the conference.

We are very proud that the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations will provide delegates the stunning experience of B.C.’s majestic mountains, waters and wildlife as they attend this conference, said George Heyman, minister of environment and climate change strategy, in a statement. We believe in good regulation, ensuring that we preserve our amazing natural environment for the future, and setting the conditions for responsible economic growth today.
