India Pavilion calls on for Collective Action in Protecting the Environment

Dubai [UAE]December 27, 2018, ANI/NewsVoir: Dr Aman Puri, Consul General of India in Dubai, and Deputy Commissioner General for India at EXPO2020 Dubai, stated that protecting the environment is our duty as citizens of India, and that we must all work together to do so.
“India is home 18% of the world’s population. It is our responsibility as such to preserve the environment. He stated that India is committed to contributing to the global good in keeping with the vision of Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi at the COP26 this past year.
Dr Puri was speaking at an exclusive session on the importance to safeguard the environment at India Pavilion at EXPO2020 Dubai on 26th Dec., which was also attended Sania Mirza, the Indian tennis star, along with Manish Malhotra (a celebrated Indian fashion designer and entrepreneur),
Dr Puri stated that “the COVID-19 Pandemic has demonstrated us the need for collaboration in ensuring the greater welfare.” To ensure the safety and health of the environment, it is imperative that we all work together towards protecting it.
Dr Puri also spoke about the importance of innovation in this sector and the steps taken to ensure that these state-of the-art ideas are presented at the India Pavilion. He stated that India Pavilion’s focus is to present innovative ideas from startups in all sectors that can transform the world. The Innovation Hub at India Pavilion is a platform for innovative solutions from upcoming startups. It has been successful in providing a platform for these ideas, particularly in the sustainability and energy conservation sectors.
Dr Puri spoke out about the success stories of Indian Startups. He highlighted Thaely as a pioneering startup from India who presented its vision at the Innovation Hub recently. The startup, which makes sneakers out of upcycled plastic bags, recently received funding interest from Anand Mahindra the Chairman of Mahindra Group.
Sania Mirza, who spoke at the occasion, stressed that environmental and sustainability topics should be addressed more often. It doesn’t have to be large-scale issues. Even small steps such as sharing cars, biking or walking could help create a healthier environment. It’s not something we think about, but even small steps can make a big difference. She added that it was important to talk about the issue and draw as much attention as possible.
Manish Malhotra added his thoughts, saying, “Saving our environment is something we all need to be careful about, especially for the future generations.” Many young fashion designers are now focusing on sustainable production and designing. We need to be aware of our actions every day and work towards creating a healthy world.
