WILLIAMSTOWN — The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center will present a variety of programs throughout February. On Sunday, February 6, at 2 p.m., the first of their Sunday nature programs will be “Plants in Winter”. After a short indoor presentation, participants will learn what happens to plants when they are in winter during a guided hike.

The second Sunday nature program, subnivean world, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 13. After an indoor presentation, participants will be taken on a snowshoe ride over the many trails of the center to experience the topic for themselves.

The center will offer two programs on Tuesday, February 22. The indoor youth-friendly program offers the opportunity to learn how to cook for birds. Participants will learn about birds and create a birdseed treat to take home to their backyard birds. Later that evening, participants will take part in a guided snowshoe hike through the winter woods.

On Wednesday, February 23, at 10 a.m., attendees can learn all about snow. This program is suitable for youth and will include simple experiments and crafts as well as a snowshoe hike through the woods with an environmental educator.

Outdoor programs will be offered with snowshoes. Participants are reminded to dress warmly in layers. You should wear outdoor footwear that can be strapped into a snowshoe. Sneakers and high heels will not fit into the straps, making it difficult to walk. Attendees will be able to walk in winter boots if there is not enough snow.

These programs cost $4 per person and $12 per family. Children under three years old are eligible for free. Payment can be made at the door by cash or check only. Pre-registration is required.
