Environment Canada states that a major spring storm is expected to batter southern Manitoba over the next three days.
According to the weather agency, widespread snowfall amounts of 30-50cm are possible. They also expect northwinds gusting up to 70-90 km/h, which can sometimes cause visibility problems.
In the western Red River Valley and western Manitoba, you might see much higher amounts, perhaps as high as 80 cm.
The system, a Colorado low is expected to hit the province starting Tuesday and lasting through Friday before heading into northwestern Ontario.
It will begin near the International border Tuesday night, as the systemmoves towardMinnesota and continues to push northward.
Environment Canada predicts that heavy snow will fall from southeastern Saskatchewan to most of southern Manitoba by Wednesday morning.
Environment Canada’s weather advisory states that travel will become more difficult as Wednesday progresses.
“By Wednesday evening, travel within communities may be impossible due to heavy snow and strong wind.” On Thursday, more snow and strong winds are expected.

Do not plan on traveling and make sure you have enough medications and supplies.
Power outages are probable. Rural areas, in particular, should be prepared to endure prolonged outages.
Environment Canada states that conditions should improve by Friday as the winds subside and the heaviest snow moves east. However, the clean-up will likely continue well into next week.
