Tribune News Service

Panchkula 25 April

The Union Environment Ministry assured Jhuriwala that it would soon give the environment clearance. This has helped to clear up any hurdles in the construction of the proposed solid waste disposal facility at Jhuriwala.

Gyan Chand Gupta, Assembly speaker, said that he had met Mayor KulbhushanGoyal and Union Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Jadav to obtain clearance for the construction of a solid-waste disposal plant at Jhuriwala village with a minimum of 2,000 tonnes. He stated that the Environment Department granted permission for the plant in 2013 for seven years. The MC was required to apply again for clearance from the ministry in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. He stated that after the reduction of Covid cases, MC was active again to create the solid waste management system.

Gupta was regularly meeting with MC officials. They informed him that the Union Ministry for Environmental had the clearance file. Yadav was also present when he and Gupta discussed the matter. The minister assured them that Panchkula’s solid waste disposal facility would be set up. He also instructed the officers. —
