Schuylkill Haven club celebrates environmental stewardship

On May 15, Don Jacobs, host on WNEPs PA Outdoor Life featured the Schuylkill Haven Area Biology Club Trout Release/Environment Day. Jacobs and Brian Hollingshead were there to support the students at their event at Summit Station’s Bear Creek and Schuylkill County Fairgrounds.

95 high school students released rainbow trout that were raised in Kaye Schwenks biology lab through the state Fish and Boat Commissions Trout for the Classroom program. Schuylkill Headwaters donated 50 adult trout.

In addition to the trout release, the Environment Day showcased fun, educational, environmental activities coordinated with “Porcupine Pat” McKinney and the Schuylkill Conservation District, in conjunction with the Schuylkill Headwaters Association, Schuylkill County Trout Unlimited, stateGame Commission, Kochs Archery and Taxidermy and Cabelas, with the Venom Institute providing a reptile and amphibian finale.
