Students 4 Environment is a project organized by the Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise, is providing  opportunities for students wanting to make a positive contribution to conservation and the environment.

Coast Care will host a dune rehabilitation program at Mount Maunganui today between 9.30am-12.30pm. Students will join Coast Care.

If Omicron has been restricting your social life and attendance at school, here’s your chance to round up some high school friends and work off some energy and frustration, have some fun and make your mark on our coastal environment,” says a Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise spokesperson.

Students will meet at Yale Street, Mount Maunganui. They are asked to bring water, sunscreen, and closed shoes. The Rotary club will provide morning tea.

Students 4 the Environment was established in 2021 by the Rotary Club Tauranga Sunrise. It has already involved students who help at K Valley.

“This program will continue to include Sunday morning events in cooperation with local authorities.
Michele Beaton, a Rotary club member says that she organizes environment care groups once a monthly.

“The purpose of this project is to allow secondary students from Years 9 to 12 and tertiary student to share their ideas and to use their actions to express their views on what they need to do to protect their environment, as climate change causes havoc.

Michele and the club have plans for Students 4 the Environment events that will run from March through November 2022.

“We plan on including a number K Valley-based events in our programme and developing a sense ownership of the area among students.”

Michele Beaton is available to answer any questions about the program. [email protected]
